Assassin’s Creed is the next-gen game developed by Ubisoft Montreal that will redefine the action genre. While other games claim to be next-gen with impressive graphics and physics, Assassin’s Creed merges technology, game design, theme, and emotions into a world where you instigate chaos and become a vulnerable, yet powerful, agent of change.
The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict.
You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history.

Getting an XBox 360 just for Assassin's creed
Phil — Wed, 03/05/2008 - 14:42I'm thinking of buying an XBox 360 just so that I can play Assassin's Creed (and its inevitable spin-offs).
I got the chance to play this at EB Games over the weekend and I practically had to be removed from the gaming station by security... it's possibly one of the best games I've ever played! No wonder its been on N4G's best software charts for a few weeks now.
Assassin's Creed
mrlyne — Mon, 02/23/2009 - 19:33The first 6 or so hours of this game make it seem like the greatest game ever made. By the time I hit 15 hours, I was ready to just stop playing.... far too repetitive! It's literally the same 3 or 4 objectives over and over again. The flag collecting pretty much completely pointless, except for achievement points on the 360. The combat is hit or miss... it's great when you're in the zone and pulling off crazy combos; it's also bloody annoying as hell when you've got your weapon out and forget to hit a button to go into combat mode.... I mean really, what's the point of letting me draw my weapon if I have to hit another button to actually go into a fighting stance? Odd design decision, that.
Having said all that, the free running aspect is fantastic. The graphics are also very well done. Animation is rock solid. I just hope they fix the combat quirks and add a hell of a lot more variety in Assassin's Creed 2.
